Photo #1 is at Waterloo Station, London in August 1936 as Owens starts the trip back home. He's so dapper! Love the look.

Photos 2 and 3 are with his wife, Minnie Ruth, on the Queen Mary boat, arriving in NYC.

Photo 4 is him smiling at his admirers on the boat and at the port upon arrival.

Jesse Owens was treated shamefully by FDR and by Jim Crow America, imo, but that's a story for another day.

In these photos, he's celebrating and justifiably happy, having obliterated the Nazi claim to supremacy going into the 1936 games. 4 gold medals, breaking world records, and all under insane, worldwide political and social pressure. What a legend.

    1. According to Owens himself FDR managed to treat him worse than literally Hitler. Now obviously the Nazis were just pullijg a charade but it’s still a sad comparison to lose.
