    1. Can we just accept the fact that when people say “free” in regards to government services that they mean taxpayer supported?

Yes, we are aware that nothing is free. Thank you for pointing that out every time we have this discussion.

Ahhh yes, the man with taxpayers $160 odd dollars a day allowance for food is complaining that kids attending school will be getting $5 a day.

    3. I’m not from the US, but Free lunch for all the students in the government run schools was one of the important things that lifted our many lives out of hunger and poverty.

Many families sent their kids to school for a lunch and education which increased literacy rates and new businesses and jobs.

Pointing out that it’s “not free” is not a fucking “gotcha”, Campbell. It’s free at the point of delivery.

And things like this should be a moral obligation for any wealthy country – they’re what civilized society are built from you fucking mandible.

    5. i can say the same thing about grandpa’s insulin. It’s not free it’s paid for by the us taxpayer. Let’s start by getting rid of that bill first.

    6. I’d rather my tax dollars go to feeding needy children than pay for some senator’s paycheck.

I pay taxes, and I 138% support using that money to feed kids. Or anyone that needs feeding, for that matter.

    8. This is the type of asshole that’s fine with the tax payers footing the bill for billionaires, billion dollar sports stadiums.

Campbell 🤡 was and is one of the biggest dickheads that ever was an Aussie MP. A savage mean little underbite with horrible morals .

    10. This should NEVER be a bipartisan topic. They are CHILDREN. You can look down on their parents all you want, but it’s not the kids fault.

This is the early logic of what will happen when abortion is totally banned. They will then blame parents when kids die to poverty conditions.

My personal belief is I want to take it further. All kids in public school deserve free, QUALITY lunch. I’ve been in Japan ten years now, and I watched these kids get home cooked meals from school gardens and and everything basically is fresh. All that food destruction we have for farmers, how tf can’t that go to schools? We can do way better definitely.

    11. “I’d rather have my tax dollars used to bomb other people’s children than feed other people’s children”

    12. Im all for free lunches, but you know what would be better? For society to not be so shit that kids need free lunches.

Imagine if instead, all jobs paid well enough that every family could afford food. Cuz right now a lot of people have to choose between paying their rent or buying food.

    13. Because “we” aren’t fucking psychopaths like that asshole. If everyone were like that guy the world would be a hellscape where people only ever did anything if there was personal gain involved. Forget helping neighbors or the community. No one does anything for anyone else anymore. Forget cooperation to face societal problems, there is no personal benefit to cooperation because you are always in a competitive antagonist position to try to find the biggest “gain” for yourself, forget everyone else or the “common good”. People like that are who the rest of us struggle against to get anything done.

    14. MAGA Cult: “I don’t want my tax paying money to go … feeding children. I want it to go military budget. I want it to go giving the rich a tax cut. .”

    15. Campbell Newman is a former ‘Premier’ of Queensland Australia. He’s a right wing libertarian

    16. I’m happy I live in a country where the free lunch debate doesn’t really exist.

The only thing I can remember was during the pandemic when it was discussed if parents should be compensated, since some families might usually depend on their kids getting a free lunch during weekdays.
