This is a town in Norway that receives sunlight through a giant mirror. It is the small town of Rjukan, surrounded by mountains that block sunlight for about six months of the year, from October to March.

    1. To solve this problem, a system of giant mirrors, known as “artificial suns”, was installed on top of the mountains surrounding the valley in 2013.

These mirrors, controlled by a computerized system, reflect sunlight back into the center of the town, illuminating the main square and allowing residents to enjoy the light during the darker months. Covering a total area of 51 square meters, the mirrors automatically adjust to follow the movement of the sun and redirect the light.

“Since the beginning of time, man has yearned to destroy the sun. I will do the next best thing; block it out!”

    3. I wonder if I could use this to keep my grass in my back yard alive. It does great all year and then dies every year in Fall.
