If Saturn were as close to Earth as the moon, this is how it would look like.

    1. Space is really big, fact… you can get every planet in the system side by side between the earth and the moon and still have a few thousand kilometres spare. Humbling

    2. Missing the hundred mile high sea bulge in the wake of Saturn’s gravity. Also the screaming people and crumbling buildings floating into the sky

    3. Isn’t the theory that Saturns rings were formed by moons that got too close and were pulled apart by Saturns gravity?

I’m baffled that you could see the entire planet plus rings. Reminds you of how incredibly far the moon is from us already. We feel so close to our moon and yet it’s amazing how much space between there is.

    5. If Saturn was as close to earth as the moon the Earth would actually be the moon.

Those tidal forces would be lit!

Wouldnt saturns albedo and size make the night side of the earth frikin bright? (until we all died)

    7. Earth would also be well within Saturn’s Roche limit at this distance, and would be pulled apart by tidal forced.

It sure would look stunning for the minutes before the surface was ripped away under your feet though.

There is no way to have saturn be darker than the surrounding sky like shown in the second picture unless it is inside the earths atmosphere which given it’s size is by all means not possibe

    9. So what would happen if you tried to jump when Saturn was above? Would you get any extra inches off the ground?

See it once and die, since the gravity would pull Earth apart or at least into Saturn itself.
