October 13, 2024(OC) The pen used by Princess Isabel (of Brazil) to sign the Lei Áurea, abolishing slavery on May 13, 1888, making Brazil the last country in the West to abolish slavery. The pen also says “o povo agradecido” (the grateful people) and “Isabel a Redemptor” (Isabel the Redeemer). [3072×2549]
