      1. My mind is not blown.
      2. I am neurodivergent.
      3. Pretty sure the bold letters just slowed my reading – that’s really distracting.
      4. I was reading whole words, not just letters in bold.

    2. This doesnt work at all. You read faster by quickly taking in the start and the end of words, this just throws you off that

    3. read it like the mocking SpongeBob voice so yes it did make me feel better in a sense but not because it’s claims were effective.

    4. Didn’t work for me. I’m a slow reader, apparently, as I seem to read at the same rate I can speak (which is a fairly normal speed).

    5. Is this the same silliness as the “if first and last letter are correct the brain can read it faster…” thing?

    6. Actually it made me read it slower and was a pain in the ass. Not interesting at all, should be in mildly infuriating sub.

    7. Oh yes making things up for reddit karma.
It is true that humans can read without every letter from the word but it’s definitely not based off the first couple, it’s based off the beginning and the end

This just fucks with my dyslexia

But how much longer does it take to type? Unless there is a macro or something that does it for you (I assume there is) this would take forever to type.

But honestly I’d be curious if they could print books like this too

    9. I didn’t feel I read faster, but definitely less over whelming for a big piece of text. Maybe I grasped what i was reading faster, but I don’t think so because I missed words out without realising? Any case I like it for large bodies of text.

    10. In brazil there was a viral e-mail in the late 90s showing up the same thing. You unlocked a very old memmory of mine, op.

    11. i’ve always been a super fucking slow reader and haven’t ever been told i was neurodivergent or anything but this is like actual magic. it didn’t take me a minute and 3 tries to read that

    12. Will write some code that does this to a scientific paper. Then Ill know whether it really helps.

It works better if you focus on first and last letters. It’s the middle letters your brain tends to fill in.

I suspect the reason why some people report it works is because it creates a novel stimulating task/purpose assigned with the task of reading. I’d be willing to bet the effect falls off over time as the novelty wears off

It actually kind of worked for me. I would give it a try.
If there was an app that would take PDF documents and convert them into this kind of reading method, I would actually pay for it as long as there’s a one month trial.
