If it took a month to defeat Poland with Soviet help, they would’ve stood no chance against Britain and France

The only realistic alternative was they would have lasted long enough for a second sun to have been born over Berlin. No way they weren’t getting nuked if they were still around by the time the bomb was viable.

Wars arent mathematic formulas that can be solved. A few changed factors can lead to so many vast consequences that it is impossible to accurately make historical models out of them.

    3. Different weather during Dunkirk is probably the only realistic scenario of Germany winning

    4. There are so many “if’s” that all have to break in German’s favor. They need to capture the British army at Dunkirk, they need to not lose the battle of Briton, they need to not invade Russia and keep Russia from invading them, they need to not declare war on the US when Peral Harbor happens, etc. ect.

    5. Ok. I get the Wehraboos are annoying, but let’s stop pretending the German military was completely incompetent and had no chance of winning the war. They took France in 6 months, and basically had the Allies expelled from the continent during the first half of the war.

I really doubt Churchill in 1942 was thinking “You know, there is no way the Germans can beat us.”

They could have won if they used Console commands to research everything and activate instant construction.

    7. The funniest thing about this is that people always try to find ways to make Germany win either World Wars, but never try to make the other side win quicker or in a different way, while it’s much more plausible to imagine Germany being kicked in the nuts in 1940 than it is to imagine them win the war, then establish durable rule over the continent, with allies only kept together due to their dislike of western powers.

      This is…not true.

They defeated France in six weeks(!). The UK lacked the men to take on the German army. They did have a superb air defense network and surface navy. But you aren’t winning a continental war with those. Hence the need for alliances with the US and Soviets and their respective large populations and industrial capacities(particularly the US).

People forget that Britain has never had huge armies. Their military has always been about the Royal Navy with a superbly trained but smallish colonial army.

The Nazis had a larger army that was well equipped to fight a continental conflict. Nazis dedicated far more resources to their army than the Brits who had to split it between army, navy, and Air Force.

Geography shapes how nations design and deploy their military forces.

    9. The only reason Germany got as far as they did was the British especially Neville Chamberlain think peace was still on the table and decided to not conscript troop and send to France

Guys…soviets alone would’ve taken down Germany as well. US involvement was a catalyst not a game changer. Without the US, it would’ve taken longer and would be far more costly but still doable.

Now to German “ifs”. To have a head-on collision with the USSR was already a step too far anyway and ticked the doomclock for them. Let’s assume it wasn’t a mistake but was a necessary move. Would they be able to win? I can argue that instead of pushing towards Stalingrad like an idiot because of Hitler’s personal boner against stalin, if he actually listened and pushed south for Baku instead, Axis might have actually got a chance to do anything meaningful. Many people disregard this but literally 85% of the entire oil supply of the soviet army came from that one single city. Shit we are talking about 75 million tons of oil and 22 million tons of gasoline from a single source, not to mention additional types of specialised fuel for different aircrafts. Now we know apart from mud and subsequent logistical issues one of the major issues the German army had was related to petrol supply. .

Anyway thank god Hitler was an absolute buffon like he was about certain key aspects of the war and we didn’t lose even more men in slaughterhouse called Europe.

    11. Hm? „The phoney war“?

Anyways… France wasn‘t really a challenge. The UK had the defensive benefit of being an island (chain) but that also meant that if they hadn‘t fought against the UK at the start they would‘ve had enough time to secure europe and move on to focus on the UK. And they could‘ve won that. But yeah… opening multiple fronts in a heavily militarized area usually doesn‘t work out. That doesn‘t mean that they could‘ve subjugated the entire world but they definitely could‘ve subjugated europe, africa, the middle east and parts of asia. Oceania and the Americas would‘ve been hard. Everything else would‘ve been possible. And even if we assume that they never could‘ve beaten the UK due to it‘s naval forces and defenders advantage that could‘ve been solved by a peace treaty. And that‘s far from annihilation.

My favorite take is they just ate their food too fast. They should’ve taken Poland and OK truce! Then in 5 years take the small northern countries above it and say OK we’re really done this time! Then take France and say they hit us first!

And they would’ve had all of Europe in 40 years. Just a hilarious thing to think about.

What if they found the vaults of advanced ancient jewish technology that Wolfenstein said existed?

    14. I hate Wehrabos but come on. Germany literally crushed Britain and France in mainland.

Me on how to play both side and always come up on top as a wehraboo:

When German engineerings were good: praise the German engineerings, that’s professionalism

When German engineerings were shit: praise the German soldiers for putting up with shitty kits and still make a decent K/D performance in the field, that’s professionalism

When German logistics were non functioning: praise the German soldiers are putting up a good fight without supplies, that’s professionalism
