OP filmed a slum and cheekily posted it on India tourism. Slums on railway land are common in India coz of land price and are often referred to as “encroachments”. People living in these slums are not covered by government housing policies, sanitation or other municipal facilities and can be evicted without notice.. the deeper issues are ofcourse far more complex, like unmanageable rural urban migration, rural unemployment, crumbling urban infrastructure and a rising population.

Even from “Indian standards” Delhi is a shithole, mostly because of huge population density (approximately 11000+ per sq km).
I understand it’s shocking for some of you to fathom , but someone who grew up in a similar (not nearly as bad as this) Indian suburb, you get use to all the garbage around you at some point, but we are still trying to be better everyday, the biggest contributor to this, well obviously huge pockets of population and lack of civic sense.

Absolutely hate Delhi and feel sorry for friends and family who live there
But if the comments under this post prove one thing it’s that garbage attracts racists.
It’s possible to be critical without being a racist.

Back in the European Union: Yeah. We need paper straws and the bottle caps need to be permanently attached to bottle.
