While there are several firearms still in use that have seen several decades of service (Maxim Gun, Mosin-Nagant, etc.), the M2 Browning remains the most consistently in-service gun in history, having served basically non-stop in multiple militaries (and wars) since 1933.
Special mention also goes to the fact that there’s a non-zero chance of the *same M2 browning* having served for over 70 years.

There’s a great copy pasta or greentext about shooting from a gunship on Mars and the gun is marked “France/Korea/Vietnam/Afghanistan” or something to that effect in the receiver and the grunt scratches “Mars” next to those names and the marking “M2” with his knife lol
