Honest question for the Birdowners out there: When you let the bird run around outside the cage like that does it learn NOT to shit all over the place or do you just have to live dangerously?

Parrots and similar species can actually be remarkably territorial. My aunt had a macaw that stopped letting my uncle touch or kiss her. They had to get rid of it because it was such a problem. They got a replacement cockatoo… who did the same thing… but with my uncle, and nearly scratched my aunt’s eye out.

They switched to a dog after that.
