In 1971, Pink Floyd performed for a dead audience in Pompeii. This unique setting, combined with the band’s psychedelic sound and the raw energy of their performance, makes this one of the most unforgettable moments in music history.

Echoes is so great. But seeing as how they filmed it with intentional camera angles… you know… did they really play for the dead? Either way I used to listen to this all the time on youtube, great performance.

I’ve been there and there is an expo in the amphitheater with music from the gig. I’ve sat down and let my mind go away for a moment…

Probably one of the greatest art pieces in the history of sound, maybe even art itself.

Some songs like “Echoes” were elevated to new heights in this live performance.
Personally, i prefer listening to the studio albums, since live performances tend to be too noisy. But this isn’t the case for Echoes. Every time i open a YouTube tab to listen to this song, i choose this performance.

Wasn’t this the last time in a long while a musical performance was allowed at Pompeii?
