    1. That… is certainly a way to do it. Did they happen to say why they do it in (what I assume is) threes?

    2. Hmm, if you use 3 at a time (thinking of a 3 bolts to a mount thing)
your tracking bolts used and mounts installed? Or maybe it is easier on their vision at a distance?

Add a bunch of lower case a’s after each H

Is your colleague Sumerian? They count in base 12, by the 3 segments of their fingers in groups of four. Also why time is told in 60 instead of 100.

For the first 38 years I only counted to 5 on each hand. Now 15 each, use the bends in each finger as one.

Each vertical stroke could be 2 so that would make 4. The horizontal would make a complete 5. That’s my guess

    7. Now how I read this is that the horizontal line is just a visual “check mark” for counting in twos and makes it easier to not lose track. So each row equals 10.

    8. I doubt it’s five. Each down stroke is smooth, but if it was five, we’d have breaks between the top and bottom portion.

I’m guessing it’s either, as another person said, a visual aid for counting in twos or a base 3 counting method. However, I also want to say that I test markers on boxes by making an H so 🤷‍♀️

Are they from an Arab country? My old boss was Jordanian and he and his daughter that worked with me did it this way.
