    1. Surprise fact, none of them have. They intend to pass the truck and get in front. Only being in front of it puts you in danger. Just stay behind, you are only in danger of crashing into the truck yourself, or being late at your destination.

Or everyone in the left lane expects the truth in the left to be significantly quicker off the line than the log truck, and they’re likely to be correct

    3. You need to be monumentally stupid to be afraid of driving behind a truck full of logs. That scene in Final Destination was one of the most ridiculously unrealistic scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie.

It made about as much sense as if someone had walked into a kitchen and all the knives shot out of the drawers and then flew to the gun safe and proceeded to go on a shooting rampage to kill everyone in the house. Why were the logs flying?! Has anyone that was scared by that movie ever visited our universe and experienced how objects move?

I’m also not arguing that movies need to be realistic. This scene was just so far over the top that I can’t even begin to understand why it would frighten someone. My example with the knives is pretty much exactly what happened with the logs, but for some reason a small subset of mental defectives somehow bought it.

    4. Years ago I saw a newspaper article describing an accident where the logs rolled off the side onto a passing car. It said that the driver of the car, “presumed to be a man” was killed instantly. It was the presumed part that got to me.
