For those who don’t know, on 17 October, 1961, the French police massacred a group of Algerians who were peacefully protesting against racist laws enacted by the city of Paris. Initially, France claimed that only two people were killed, eventually, in 1998 claimed that 48 people were killed throughout the night. However, Historian Jean-Luc Einaudi suggests that upto 200 people were massacred throughout the night.
