That’s because 99 percent of the time the question has been asked a million times and is also stickied in the faq section. Op is just too lazy to do a minimal amount of effort and wants it given to them.

Happens all the time, one downvote and the post never sees the light of day

You know there’s a search function, right?

I remember googling for the answer to something, it sent me to reddit. In the thread, people were flaming the op, telling them to google it. I couldn’t help but be all “.. but.. that’s what I just did..” At some point questions need answering, so that googling it can find the answer.

Its cuz no one puts in any effort to find the answer themselves before asking on reddit.
99% of the time the question has either been asked and answered already or could be solved by a quick Google search.
Making a post on reddit asking for advice should be the last option after you’ve tried to find an answer.

Idk, I make a hobby of answering those people as clearly and simply as I can, at least within a comment chain. For some reason I don’t like to think of people asking politely and left hanging. There is no shame in not knowing something.
If you yell at or insult them you make the world a little more fucked up. If you answer them and move on, it does no harm.

I told a plumber asking a plumbing code question to “read your fuckin code book” and got downvoted into oblivion. I liked it though

Maybe because that same question has already been posted 12 times every day.

Them: “I swear I’ve googled this question but I still can’t figure out the answer”
You: Enters the question in google exactly as they posted in reddit and immediately gets the answer…

Yeah, my experience as to why this is happening is because the question has been asked hundreds of times already, and there are already stickied posts filled with the advice that person is seeking.
From your perspective, it is just a small question. From the members’ of that subs perspective, its the third time they’ve read it that day.
