There’s a lot of buildings like this Cairo. When they widened the highways across the city they didn’t demolish the adjacent buildings, they just cut them in half to make more space and left the other half still standing. When you drive past you can see apt. buildings where all the apt. doors on the highway side just open up to open air rooms that only have 3 walls

Where was the other side standing?
The value of those remaining units just doubled for having outdoor patios now.

There’s a big different between controlled demolition and collapses. The former isn’t really shocking, more impressive.
