As we know, relations between Romania and Hungary haven’t been friendly historically and we could argue they aren’t good today either.
Back when Transylvania was part of Hungary, the Romanian people there were treated as second class citizens. From the construction of stone orthodox churches being banned, Act Number XLIII, to the Lex Apponyi which made Hungarian a mandatory language regardless of the mother tongue of students, resulting in well over 600 villages being left without any form of education as schools were closed. Attempts to reach a middle ground were shut down as the Hungarian government used its powers to crack down on Romanian movements which sought better and/or equal treatment with the Hungarians.
Time passes, Romanians and Hungarians continue duking it out politically when WW1 happens and Hungary finds itself on the losing side. Thus, they regain their independence but lose LOTS of territories.
Romania being overrun in the Great War, surrendering to the central powers, reentering the war shortly before the central powers collapse and therefor win the war.
Romania easy way to double your territory

Hungary would find itself occupied by the Romanian Army in an [ill fated war](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarian%E2%80%93Romanian_War), with the Romanians pillaging and robbing whatever wasn’t nailed to the ground as “revenge” for the Central Powers occupation of Romania. That and Romania attempted to annex all territories till the Tisza River with no success. In general, Romania went on a wild adventure as it occupied [Prague](https://www.google.com/amp/s/historia.ro/amp/sectiune/general/legiunea-romana-de-la-praga-568270.html), intervened in the [Russian Civil War](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanian_Volunteer_Corps_in_Russia), [twice](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanian_occupation_of_Pokuttia), and even [occupied Vienna](https://www.google.com/amp/s/evz.ro/evenimentul-istoric-1918-maniu-viena.html/amp). As you can tell, this didn’t exactly ease tensions and only led to more conflict in the future.
