When I was in college, I wrote a paper on George Wallace. Doing the research was great because all the material was accessible and there were loads of pictures. But I remember thinking, “How could people have supported and voted for this man?”
Our grandchildren and their children will ask this when writing their history papers (assuming they’re allowed to). And I don’t know what we are going to say. How do we explain it? Even if he doesn’t win in Nov. he DID win in once before.
