NATO high command: “And this is supposed to slow down the Soviet advance through Germany?”
De Gaulle: “Soviet advance?”

The Soviets had the same idea XD
Imagine if both the Soviets and the Allies start to drop nukes on Germany the same time XD

*To be fair*, the rest of NATO had roughly the same plan. Including the germans, not in the way that they were especially happy about it, but they were acutely aware of the fact. One of the reasons why the german army was so keen on being a relevant conventional force. They knew exactly, if it seemed the soviets would break through, absolutely everybody would nuke germany.
