Showing the Huawei Mate XT. It is the size of 3 phones and can be folded into 2 other display sizes.

The reviews I’ve read said there is a very noticable screen crease at the hinges, more so than some newer foldables. Otherwise, it looks awesome.

I think I’m at least a few years from a foldable though, the crease would drive me crazy

    2. Undeniably cool hardware…but I wonder about the durability of that external screen. Or more accurately, the external-facing third of the screen.

Folding phones like the Galaxy Z still use hardened glass on the exterior screens, so the soft and still very fragile plastic of the internal screens can be protected when not in use.

Unless Huawei has made a HUGE leap forward in material science, that thing’s gonna be scratched to hell almost immediately.

It’s really cool but I really don’t like the idea of having a fragile foldable display on the outside of the phone when it’s folded, unless of course they’ve done something new with the screen tech.

I just…do not see the point of either a bigger or thicker “phone”

Ignoring the obvious I will make that screen tear in about 2 nano seconds.

Guess we just going full circle from PC laptop tablet phone back to tablet

    5. I’ll be real I don’t see the appeal. I already stare at my phone enough and the screen is big enough. Don’t need a portable tablet

I can only see a single use for this

and it’s a phone I can fold out to turn into a proper drawing tablet

…except this looks way too easy to break

    7. I already have a $1,200 phone the I explicitly use to txt my gf and ignore calls from my mom. Why do I need this?

    8. this is really cool. but as a clumpsy user who drops my phone way too many times. this is not going to last on me.

maybe if they just ignore trying to make it lighter, they should reinforce the frame to make it durable. then, i would consider get one.

    9. Wildly impractical. But really cool. And who knows, maybe the future has a place for this. As I type the out on my folding phone.
