I was 12 when No Doubt hit the mainstream. Gwen Stefani made a HUGE impact on an entire generation of preteen and teenage girls. If No Doubt only released “Just a Girl,” that song alone would’ve been enough to light the flames in us.

Gwen helped us build confidence, take up space, be loud, not take anyone’s shit, speak up, and so much more. I feel like Gwen led the way and opened the door for other female artists to do the same.

There were other female artists and groups kicking ass and being awesome examples, too (i.e., Kittie). It was an amazing time to be a middle school girl and an amazing time growing into yourself, leading into HS.

I was stoked to share No Doubt and all my fav kick ass female groups with my newly turned 13-year-old twins this past June. It was a great bonding experience.

    2. Saw her and No Doubt (w/Bush and either the Goo Goo Dolls or the Foo Fighters) right around this time.

She stole the show, sooo high energy and near acrobatic!
