September 18, 2024A 4th century BCE stele found in 1904 at the south of the Theatre of Dionysos in Athens. From the lower part of the stele, a snake relief slithers upward toward a sandal. Between the snake and the sandal is a carved inscription that reads “Silon anetheken”, meaning Silon dedicated it [1602×2318]
