As an American I’ve had 4 different jobs that were entry level labor jobs that required me to have a working knowledge of both the imperial and metric system. How to eyeball common measurements on both and how to convert them quickly.
It’s actually common in America for people to have to use both regularly if they are in any job that uses measurements.

And drugs! We aren’t uncivilized

3.6 V6 motor, 3,6 ltr or 3600cc
Also to measure weed.
And booze!
Considering that the Imperial system is officially defined by the metric system, america already uses metric, just with extra steps
Hey, to be fair we also use it for illegal drugs. Gram bags and all
Hey now, an entire [interstate highway is signed in metric](https://www.geographyrealm.com/the-only-metric-highway-in-the-united-states/)! Never mind that it’s in the middle of Arizona and was such a failure that the pilot program was never continued in other areas.
