Calling this one a victory

    1. Am I the only one whose been using the singular forms of they/them for anyone and everyone for the last like 20 years?

    2. I have an honest question. But first some context: I’ve been a huge language nerd for a long time and occasionally get a bit overzealous about proper grammar. Using singular they just sounded strange to my ear. Then I read more about the experiences of non-binary people. (Much of it on Imgur.) I realized that the importance of me having to adjust to a new use of a word I’d used in a certain way all my life paled in comparison to the benefits to non-binary people. /1

Why is this getting downvotes? Clearly getting addressed as “they” is important to OP. I’m happy for them.

I remember how good it felt the first time I got an organic she without a mask. It’s wonderful that you are getting to experience this!

Didn’t know gender is important to them. Didn’t know they walk around in public. This is crazy news to me, and I don’t know why nobody else is talking about it. Bots (like OP) walking around in public and getting into conversations.

Sad that someone had the dark empathy to facilitate a delusion. May you get the help you need 🙏
