    1. My local animal shelter and pet smart have an agreement for adoption where petsmart act as the front for the animal shelter so pets get adopted more quickly and easily.

We got a chihuahua that we suspect was 9 many years ago. She was pregnant behind a dumpster when they found her. Her pups were adopted immediately, but she was left alone in the shelter. She has been one of the best dogs I have ever had. Such a sweet old lady.

Sad animal comics upset me. Like, there is enough torment in the world. I get the point, you want people to adopt, but you can get that point across without ruining my day. I would pack bond with a rock if you put googly eyes on it, don’t do this to me.

Adopting shelter pets is the only way to go. Buying “pure breeds” from puppy farms just exacerbates the suffering of these wonderful animals.

My cat FEELS like a shelter rescue cause he was stuck at his pet shop for over 3 years cause he was “too old” to sell. Love him to death and thankful we were able to give him a loving home after so long.

Most shelters are in desperate need of help, and will seldom turn someone away willing to donate their time. Sure, you may be shoveling and cleaning bowls but it’s helpful and you get to spend time with all the animals

    7. We adoped a post-mommy pup from a shelter that was shutting down in Oklahoma. She had pups, but the pups were not with her when they found her, and she was full of milk, and suffering from a bacterial infection.

She was coming to our state to be fostered, so we intercepted and “trial fostered” her, so we could get an idea of how she would be with our family.

We hit the jackpot, because, while she is 2 years old and not trained, she is so eager to please, and immediately took to obeying our commands, responding to the new name we gave her, and quickly adapting to a “non desperate, not going to be neglected” mentality. And she is amazing with our kids. Her only “flaw” is wanting to play with one of our cats that does not want to play back. But she does not hurt her, and the kitty lets her know when to stop.
