Chart is pretty simple. I put it together to explore when national anthems became a thing around the world. In general, it’s a pretty recent phenomenon driven by the establishment of nation-states in the 1800s, the Olympics playing the national anthem of the winner since 1932, and decolonization in the second half of the 20th century. Did a longer write-up [here](https://chrisdallariva.substack.com/p/the-new-national-anthem).
