Sure, but it sucks to know that there’s probably someone out there doing much better. Insanely more than you are.

And you only need to show up 80% of the time…

I dunno, getting 22% out of something would suck, no matter how you spun it.

I’ve been working out pretty consistently for over a year, and one of the hardest things for me to do is have an “okay” workout. I have an all-or-nothing personality, but that’s actually not good for me because the “all” is almost always unsustainable and the “nothing” is actively bad for my health.
I blew out my neck and shoulders last week and fought every urge I had to overdo it with weights and just walk on the treadmill for an hour. That was a win for me.

True. Always expecting 100% is expecting perfection. Instead of fixating on perfection just fixate on what you can do, and then build from there.

Machines constantly working at 100% break down, usually quite messily, unless there’s a hefty support system in place: spare parts ready on hand, backup power supply, backup systems, and frequent maintenance and repairs — usually by multiple people! — that make that happen.
Even a machine takes extensive planning, maintenance, and the support of multiple experts (and often a backup unit to switch to!) in order to give 100%.

Any time I’m in a rough patch my mantra is “No ZERO days” (meaning you accomplish 0% Anything I can do to check a box (and I am in love with making actual paper/hand-written lists!) can get me a little bit closer to getting out of that slump
