The difference here is that schools are encouraging it by trying to remove parents from that conversation. Nobody is trying to make kids mass murderers or rapists. What a stupid comparison.

Their friends helped them see this and accepted them, giving them safety, support, and confidence. The guidance counselor has been meeting with them because they’re terrified, near suicidal because coming out to a parent like you means destroying their life and losing their family because your bigoted hatred is stronger than the love for your own child.

the bigger issue the parents should be worried about is that their kids don’t trust telling them about their gender identity issues. Why are they going to the school counsellor with these issues in the first place?
