A musician in Xinjiang playing a stringed instrument. I think it’s called a chakhe or krapeu. Late 1920s.

[Source of photo](https://collections.lib.uwm.edu/digital/collection/agsphoto/id/8119/rec/123). It was taken in 1927 or 1928 and the title is “Shache in Uygur region (China), musician with instrument.” As it doesn’t name the instrument I googled some keywords and found a [Wikipedia entry](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chakhe) for the chakhe which looks like the instrument in the photo. It’s a “a fretted floor zither or lute with three strings used in Thai and Khmer music.”
