    1. Every food/travel show I have watched always show how cheap food in SE Asia is. Then there is Japan where I’m lead to believe produce is the most expensive commodity there is.

    2. I saw an episode of iron chef that had these as the theme ingredient. They probably had like 50 of them in various stages of development. They can only be harvested in the wild and are quite rare.

      Are they amazingly tasty or is this just another folk medicine thing? Maybe theyre highly seasonal and rare like Morels and truffles?

    4. Why are these so expensive in Japan when it’s like 20 a pound right now in the US?

    5. What happens if they don’t sell? Just throw it away and lose out on $100? I would think these only have a sell by life of a 3 to 5 days max.
