There’s a guy trying to build in our town on a road that always floods. He’s had to do like 3 rounds of infill because it keeps getting washed away. Like man, just stop. It’s a swamp.

We’ll be there soon enough. Builders in Tennessee have been trying to get laws modified to allow building on wetlands. They just need to give a little more money to the right people.

    3. Not unique to the USA. In the UK developers buy cheap land on flood plains and somehow get permission from the local government to build on it. Not your 20/50/100yr flood flood plains, your has flooded every year for recorded history flood plains! Then people buy them and are confused as to why they are getting flooded every year and can’t get insurance.

They will just haul in dirt and raise the grade after they install the storm, sewer, water and electric systems.

“But the builders dug a 50 foot pond at the front of this development of 800 houses, that’s meant to catch the floodwater!”
