For those who don’t know, **the importer pays the tariff**.
A tariff on China doesn’t mean the Chinese pay it. It means that the goods get stopped at customs until Uncle Sam gets his cut from the American buyer. You better believe that they will then pass that cost on to you. They ain’t eating the cost of the tarrif out of the goodness of their hearts.
But what about stuff made in America? No tariffs, cool. Except if the cost of materials went up, it’ll be more expensive too.
But what about stuff that is 100% American, from raw materials to factory shelves? Not affected, but if the cost of foreign competitor’s products went up, and the cost of domestic products made with foreign materials went up, the 100% American company can charge more and still undercut their rivals. Do you expect them not to raise prices when they could, out of a sense of charity?
Tariffs mean **you** pay more, period.
