    1. “Looks like a whole squadron of troops came through here and if I’m not mistaken, I think they might be naked!”

    2. “These tracks are side-by-side, sandpeople always ride single file to hide their numbers….”

These were allegedly used by Military Assistance Command Vietnam – Studies and Observation Group  (MACV/SOG).

*One method for disguising the presence of US troops in the jungle were these boots. Manufactured by Wellco, the soles were designed to mimic the footprint of the much smaller, barefooted Vietnamese who typically populated these trails.*

Apparently the boots were extremely uncomfortable to wear, so they tried wearing sandals, and tried putting socks over the shoe to hide the footprint, but the most effective method was to

*…collecting boots from combat hospitals after they were removed from wounded troops and thrown away. SOG air assets then dropped 20,000 pairs of good condition US boots over the jungle canopy. They were far better than North Vietnamese Army or Viet Cong sandals and the enemy quickly took to scavenging these boots and wearing them on missions, which led to trails covered in boot prints throughout the region.*

    4. Nah, what we need is a boot with a *bear* footprint.

Who wants to fight a platoon of heavily armed bears? Nobody, that’s who.

*A whole squad of soldiers marching from one place to other*

Enemy soldiers watching them from a live drone footage: “Hey look, they have their boots on, but they leave bare footprints. Anyway let’s blast them.”

    6. Reminds me of the old moonshiners, my father in law was a big time shiner back in the day, anyway, they would put fake cow hooves on the bottoms of their shoes to make it look like just a cow path rather than a path to the shine.

    7. Weren’t these used by SOG in Vietnam?

I remember them being mentioned in a couple of books

    8. So just follow foot prints instead of boot prints. Would work once then the enemy would figure it out! Dozens of similar foot prints

    9. Growing up, my friend and I had a joke about shoes with raccoon pawprints, and then you’d break into homes, and they’d think a band of racoons did it.

    10. It’s like the military version of the old cow-print boots moonshiners would use to throw off the cops.

This works only until the enemy finds out about them which is probably 10 minutes after they are first used.

    12. What about the m1 tank tracks or the bradkley!?

Surly we aren’t sending foot soldier out about in todays war environment

    13. If the enemy knows how to track, they’d most likely know it wasn’t a legit print of a foot.
