True story: I was attending a book club a long time ago, and a frog a friend was there for a while. She was in a tough spot, her husband was caught sleeping with her best friend, so she kicked him to the curb, etc. she was adamant on divorce, but the dude was genuinely horrified by himself and both he and the friend repented, and she very slowly was okay with seeing him. They did therapy and the whole bit, and over time she let him move back in.
While she was grieving her marriage, she had another friend who was a superstar. She was friends with Tom and told him the sob story.
So, Tom got one of his promotional photos of him looking amazing and shirtless, and he signed it “Dear Susan, thanks for everything. Love, Tom” and mailed it to the lady.
She framed it and put it on the mantle. But when her husband came home, he was like, what on earth is this??
