Takeda Castle, also known as the “Machu Picchu of Japan”, was built by Otagaki Mitsukage in 1441 CE and is located in the city of Asago some 353 metres above sea level. The castle was destroyed in 1600 after its final lord, Akamatsu Hirohide, was accused of arson and committed seppuku [1200×1708]
