I have a question as a European, what if instead of giving money to the corrupted governments , we would actually help their citizens

Meh who hasn’t funded both sides in a war. Technically I’ve funded both sides in a war. It’s nothing special really.

Ehy, as far it wasn’t a Civil War, they only funded the *far right terrorists!* Meanwhile the far left terrorists were funded by URSS!
…Years of Lead were weird and fucked up, man.

USA: I back both sides. That way I always come out on top.

Gotta justify this massive defense budget. Plus it lets us see how different tactics and technology plays out. We didn’t send all that gear to Ukraine from the goodness of our hearts. We want to see how it holds up against a “near peer” in combat.

It’s a lot easier to criticize the US if you ignore the actions of literally everyone else.

I came looking for any examples but there don’t seem to be any.
So I’ll give the only one I know of.
During the Malaysian civil war the US CIA was helping rebel militias while the state department was assisting the government. This was the result of some bizarre miscommunications and assistance to the millitias ended once the US government realized what was happening, but lasted for a while regardless.
There are plenty of examples of weapons from the USA or the USSR or just anyone was used on both sides, or were foreign nations switched who they were supporting, but no one ever intentionally “both sides” an armed conflict.
