Yesterday night, I went outside and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights in Vaughan, Ontario. (I took that photo with my phone.)
Do you ever look up at the sky and wonder just how small we are? Like in the grand scheme of the universe, we're merely a speck passing through.
All the problems, worries, and conflicts we create for ourselves and others seem almost laughable from that point of view.
Sometimes when I need a shift in perspective, I imagine myself zooming out from where I am until the earth becomes a little sphere floating in the middle of nowhere.
That might bring some people existential dread, but it brings me peace. It makes me realize I should stop sweating the small stuff and enjoy the days I have.
Whether it's immersing myself in a book, spending time with my loved ones, taking a hike in the mountains, I try to be present in and enjoy each moment.
I shared an excerpt from the intro of my book in the photo and I hope it gets more people to slow down and reflect on life a little more. Are you putting your time and energy into what truly matters to you? Are you at peace? If not, what micro actions could you take day to day to shift your life in that direction?
