A 90-year-old woman with no heirs signed a contract with a 47-year-old lawyer giving him her apartment upon her death, but he had to pay her a monthly allowance until she died. She outlived him, and his widow continued the payments. She received approximately double the value of the apartment.

There’s also a conspiracy theory behind Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment is the oldest person ever whose age has been verified with a documented lifespan of 122 years and 164 days

In 2018, Russian researchers and a gerontologist claimed that Jeanne Calment, the world’s oldest person, was a fraud and that her daughter Yvonne assumed her identity to avoid paying inheritance taxes.

Reminds me of a neighbour. When I was a child our elderly neighbour sold her house at the age of 74 under the condition that she was allowed to live rent-free, utilities included, in one of the appartments and would receive a monthly pension. The real estate dude who bought the house thought he had made a good deal, but my parents and grand-parents were all laughing at the story. When I asked why my grandmother explained to me that the neighbours family was well known around in the city because all of their women made it to at least 92 years, many of them even reaching 100 years.

The real estate dude would end up paying her pension and utilities bills for the next 28 years…

I cant tell if she was genuinely trying to be nice by giving the lawyer her apartment or if she actually planned to be immortal
