Early in my career, I worked with a French intern who liked Biggie. His parents were from Morocco, so he was of North African descent. He had relatively light skin and a thick Parisian accent. A co-worker and I went out to get food with him and he starts rapping one of Biggie’s songs and doesn’t censor the N-word while we’re out in public. My co-worker and I quickly told him “you can’t say that!” Afterwards, I started wondering though – what are the rules in that situation?
edit: apparently North African is considered white in the US census. I’m going with no
