its not like waffle house is particularly well equipped to deal with hurricanes, the big bosses are just stubborn as hell about closing apparently. on one hand yeah its good to have SOME food options following disasters, but they dont really seem to give a shit about the workers.

It’s a real thing and used for not only hurricanes but other storms too. Waffle house as a brand always wants to be open if one’s closed that means shits wrecked and bad. During Ike in Houston when I saw the Waffle House near me reopen after a couple of weeks I knew we weren’t far off from getting power back in our neighborhood. I remember after the Joplin tornado they used the index then too. But as someone mentioned it really sucks for the employees.
