Fort Tolukko is a small fortification on the east coast of Ternate, Indonesia, that has been variously occupied by the Portuguese, the native Ternate Sultanate, the Dutch, the British and the Spanish. Built in 1522, it’s phallic shape is more likely a function of the immediate topography [1080×1604]

      That seems to me like a very strong and efficient design, probably had more engineers than architects working on it

    2. I think if the phallic shape had been on purpose they would’ve put the path at the tip, not between the two towers. Imo it’s accidental.

      It was an accident. They built it in a hurry, on a moonless night. And in the morning, they looked and decided not to rebuild it…
