There’s bigger fish to fry than being worried about who someone is attracted to.

Grandpa got the buckle, so dad could get the belt, so we got the hand, so our kids can talk about it. Marginalized groups marginalizing each other drives me up the wall, but it still just makes sense in context. Idk I just try not to hold marginalized people to a higher standard than the majority groups. It’s bigotry from people who have never faced adversity that makes zero sense at all. Like what could they possibly be mad about?

    2. These third world countries were all horribly exploited by European colonizers and given a religion they didn’t want, until that religion became what they knew. Then they weren’t given the boon of industrialization and a quality of life upgrade that the same homophobic Europeans got, which eventually led to these European societies abandoning homophobia in the year… oh, wait, it’s still a thing despite all the wealth and luxuries we enjoy.

      Damn.

It’s funny, because pagan religions in Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Asia are full of queer, non binary, and intersexed gods and goddesses.

We always talk about what was taken from us during colonization and slavery (our land, our languages, our religions, our names), but we rarely talk about what was given to us….the colonizers gave us their prejudices, their hatred.

I remember watching this video with these two female African parliamentarians, and they were talking about patriarchy.

And they were laughing at Westerners scolding Africa for their history with regards to women’s rights. They thought it was funny, because before the colonizers came, many of their tribes were matriarchal.

They said that men would be the hunters, but women mended the fields and agriculture, and that the tribes depended on wheat and bread way more than meat. So women controlled agriculture, and subsequently controlled the tribes.

For many African tribes, patriarchy was forced onto them by colonizers, so it’s hilarious now for those same colonizers to be complaining about values that THEY forced onto a lot of African tribes.

If they were worrying about the more important things I’m not so sure they’d be stuck in third world status

    5. Few things more pathetic than homophobia. Yo, if you wanna play with a lil gay shit do it at home in private. No need to take ya fear of the human being you may actually be out on folks who ain’t do shit do you and was just out here living with the courage ya chickenshitass ain’t got the gumption to build up. Stop thinkin bout they genitals and go life ya stupidass life.

    6. But you’re forgetting, they think homosexuality is the REASON for all those other problems, so they’re not being frivolous, they’re attacking the problem head-on. It’s like if you saw the opportunity to attack Ronald Reagan before he got into politics; a chance to strike at the source of the disease.

(I’m aware that Reagan is not the source of the disease, but it’s really hard pinpointing a specific person for… [gestures around])

    7. Blame colonization for this. The spread of Christianity and western norms of behavior in Africa and parts of Asia.

    8. homophobes are so worried that they are secretly gay. So, instead of dealing with that in any sort of healthy manner, they want it obliterated from their reality.

We do but the religious will tell you this is god’s punishment for not keeping his words or as I like to call it “not giving enough money so pastor can buy the brand new G wagon”.

Religion has brainwashed Africa and Africans. It’s so sad.

Why is this issue difficult to understand coming from third World countries and not everywhere else? We know the issue is religion- isn’t that the shared Homophobic ego that binds people?

    11. I don’t get ittttttt; is it not gay as hell to be deeply invested in the gay business of gay people? Oh your religion commanded this? **I SEE.**

Look into the trafficking of minors in third-world countries, and you’ll see why it’s illegal.

      #Blame the American evangelical movement
*It has unfortunately made grifters and extremists throughout the African continent in very familiar fashion.*

    14. i think we should understand that there is no scholarly literature out there that describes oppressed people, let alone racialized people, as incapable of violence and bigotry.
