Had to fact-check it. These 2 guys stole that Boeing 727 at an airport in 2003 and flew away, disappearing forever: no crash, no plane. How is that possible!!!

They likely shut off the transponder and landed it somewhere. They easily could have dismantled it or sold it off to a private entity who the. Could have rebranded/recovered/repurposed the aircraft so that it’ll never be found.

Because this happened to be the first commercial jetliner with a gas turbine auxiliary power unit, a tiny jet turbine that could be used to start up the first engine with bleed air and then all the others. Before that they needed to be started by ground crew. This was the first jetliner that could realistically be stolen so of course it’d get stolen.

People say insurance fraud but then the question is why were these 2 people never seen again

    4. the easy bet is that they did crash and just nobody ever found the crash site because they had turned off the transponder and it was far in the wilderness or the ocean

    5. There’s only 2 possibilities.

Either they landed safely at an unmarked location somehow (it’s not impossible, just improbable) or they crashed in the ocean.

The ocean is a very large place my friend.

Besides, flying a plane is easy; it’s landing that is a motherfucker.

You guys are thinking about this all wrong.

FBI can’t catch them if they kept going up

They landed on a partially submerged strip of island, called in their location and a crew came out and stripped it down then dragged the fuselage out to sea with the back-up boat.

    9. No *reported* crash.

The ocean is big, and you can’t just show up to an airport to land your plane without the proper paperwork. They probably crashed somewhere at sea.

The jets got scrambled and shot them down. Government covered it up.

You think after 9/11 they would let these guys fuck around and NOT find out?

“Aviation has a perfect safety record, we’ve never left one up there yet”

My old flight school had a sign on the toilet wall with a bunch of aviation related sayings, that was one of the ones I can remember

Likely crashed in ocean (estimated range they had when taking off doesn’t actually put them terribly far off the African west coast all things considered). I don’t buy the landing at some airport secretly theory only because that’s insanely hard to do and then continue on without being found, or any piece of the airplane being discovered.

    13. I feel like it landed out somewhere and some rich african dude is probably still flying it after forging some numbers. The US etc was looking it for as a security threat when it was probably just a regular robbery so they looked in all the “wrong” places.
