Making it the second statue of Karl XIV Johan placed outside a royal palace the other being in [Oslo](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Karl_Johan_monument_in_Oslo#/media/File:%22Die_Hauptresidenz_der_K%C3%B6nige_von_Norwegen%22._02.jpg). Fun fact after the statue was finished Bernadottes widow queen Desiree during her common wagon tours through Stockholm would often stop at the statue and remark “*Oh, qu’il est beau*” (Oh, how beautiful he is).
