I solidly believe in home defense.
I believe armed people are much harder to intimidate (see the Klan burning crosses on peoples yards).
I believe in community owned security over, say, police that don’t live in the same neighborhoods they police.
I am an armed household myself.
That all said, I always saw the point of using those weapon as a means to punch through and out of a bad situation over some John Wick ass fantasies of holding the Alamo or some other analogy. Armed encounters are dangerous, even when you’re packing and have advantages (numbers, arms, surprise, etc). The reality is the most likely way to survive encounters with deadly force is stronger cover and escape. Your shit isn’t worth taking a stray round during return fire. It’s not worth firing blindly into the dark and where and what those rounds go through. Or that’s just my opinion.
This is an outrage: I have perfectly good swords and there’s no reason to wake the neighbors. ⚔️ /S

As a gun owning, veteran democrat, I agree with this sentiment wholeheartedly. I have absolutely no need to use my AR15 in a home defense situation however. I’m using sub sonic rounds in a 9mm or shotgun. My AR15 will only ever be used when MAGATS decide they want a civil war.
