just fyi, while it is a one dollar coin, it is not a silver dollar. but it is interesting they are being used in vending machines as change.

Maybe you will get lucky and get a 1888 Morgan silver dollar!

Is this my first “I feel old” moment (36)?
Back when I was a kid, pre-64 actual silver change was still a regular find.

Was it given it as a dollar or a quarter? That’s a Susan B Anthony dollar, and its size is so close to a quarter that it used to be not too uncommon to get one by mistake.

Where is the silver dollar? That is a clad dollar coin. With respect, thats a really common coin. The US mint used to sell these in bags because they try to get rid of them.

i got 11 of these when i got $20 worth of quarters. People have no idea what they are and are similar size to quarters.

I know it it’s a common coin, I collect coins and have since I was a kid, it’s a Susan B Anthony dollar and is interesting to find as these are not very commonly used as tender anywhere EXCEPT for change from specific hidden away vending machines (or less used ones) and in change at transits.
No one wants to pay with them and that’s why the mints stopped making them. They’re something you’ll find and be like “ah that’s kinda cool”

It’s because Healthcare is so damn expensive here we got the elderly settling up with their coin collections

Those are not silver dollars. Those are susan b anthony dollar coins. Unless it is a rare one, it is only worth face value.
