Yes, those reds hate freedom and love common-sense automotive safety regulations

My dad got pulled over after having a few too many at the local bar in Ohio in the ’70s, and the cop that pulled him over let him leave his car on the side of the road, and even drove him home. Crazy how times have changed.

    3. “..and you gotta wear a seatbelt. Pretty soon we’re gunna be a communist country.”

And that one had a baby beside her 🤦🏻‍♂️

    4. He’s not wrong about 1 or 2 beers while driving. An average adult won’t be over the limit at that rate.

    5. I can easily confirm that even in 2024 there are folks who drink while they drive and drive without wearing a seatbelt. They know the risks but don’t want to be inconvenienced.

Both are very selfish moves in life. Not a fan. You can’t yell at the dead and get a response, though.

Socialism is a scare word they have hurled at every advance the people have made in the last 20 years. Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security. Socialism is what they called farm price supports. Socialism is what they called bank deposit insurance. Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations. Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people. – Harry S. Truman

    7. The problem isn’t drinking and driving, it’s sipping and swerving. These comments are boozephobic.

Have one more”For the Road” was the instant reaction to “open container” bans.

    9. They are still using the same line to this day. “Pretty soon we are gonna be a communist country” lmao! 🤣

Don’t forget having to wear motorcycle helmets when you ride and not having the pleasure of your hair blowing in the wind while riding in the back of a truck. 😀 Freedom – we’re safer now.

Well, if there was something that wasn’t missing in communist countries it was motorists full of vodka

I’ll never forget driving our huge 58 Pontiac Star Chief when one of my husand’s empty beer bottles rolled out from under the seat and under the brake pedal as I was on the downslope of a viaduct. I somehow managed to keep the car under control but I’ll never know how.

    13. Well, that’s the thing about “law” and humanity.

It all changes depending on the time and place, along with a society’s perspective.

I’m sure things we allow now will someday be seen as wild to future generations. We’re not at ‘the end’ of all things law and culture.

The only one I still think is utterly fucking stupid is being able to have your life destroyed by getting a “DUI” on a bicycle. The worst you’re going to do is just crash your bike into a car and…hurt or kill *yourself*.

Somehow, I don’t think there’s a long history of people killing others on a bicycle. But…maybe I’m wrong. Even if you run into someone and hurt them, just be made to pay their medical bills and maybe get a fine for being a dummy. A full-blown DUI? Come on. I’d much rather have people riding bikes home than trying to get in a car.

Ahh yes communism. Why does she sound familiar. Hey, if she’s still alive, I know who’s she’s voting for

If it weren’t for the fear of getting arrested my father would have driven drunk – and I might not be here. Sometimes rules and laws are arbitrary or seemingly intended to control citizens. Other times rules and laws protect us from our own poor decisions.

It’s kinda weird that you can chug a beer outside your car and then drive home, but you can’t chug a beer while in the car on the way home.
