He got the mild version. I was totally expecting the system to call the cops on him and them shooting him over his angry gibberish (obviously).

    2. I’ve automated lots of stuff in my house and I don’t have to talk to some bullshit device.
      This is just stupid.

We know now that we can’t trust voice activation, especially not if it’s connected to the internet

    4. Love these kinds of things. /s

The “The United states invented a super awesome pen that couldn’t work in space…the Russians used a pencil” types that always try and peddle the notion that the way things are is just fine…they always try to push the worst case scenario for new tech, as if dude’s door wouldn’t have a normal lock, and the fireplace wouldn’t have a switch or something.

My google assistant is voice activated, but I can still have it do its automations by opening the app on my phone and having it do what I want that way.

New tech will have flaws. LED stop lights had issues getting covered up by snow at first because they didn’t melt it upon contact like incandescent. So they added little heat grids inside the fixture and only activate them at certain times. This method STILL severely reduced the level of energy needed to function at intersections. Problems are just little stumbles to the finished product.

    5. This is impressive, but it needs alternative emergency methods to solve these problems.
