      Iceland also placed heavy restrictions on white US troops – they weren’t allowed to move about, shopkeepers could legally not serve them or refuse them entry, they had very strict curfews, and any women who had relationships with them were imprisoned.

      They were very concerned about the integrity about the Icelandic population, which is slightly more understandable when you remember that there were up to 60,000 US troops and only 130,000 Icelanders on the island.
