Don’t forget that everyone is armed with a sword and armor is useless for some reason.

You know what, imagine a show about a long siege, and it’s about soldiers playing games from that time or getting into some shenanigans in their spare time. Like few shots of artillery, attempted and failed breach, and in the end of the day, they get back to the camp and fuck around.

Battles were always just to armies walking into each other without a plan.
I cannot recall things like making use of the terrain, holding hills, building defensive structures, feints, reserves, maneuvers, skirmishes or else.

that spearline in particular though looks very chargeable, as they are not coherent and they spears aren’t anchored into the ground. Heavy cavalery would steamroll this, first of all because they hand mlst of the time lances, that were up to 3 meters long, giving them the range advantage and secondly, because they would build up so much momentum, that they would easily break a line that isn’t either very disciplined and coherent or quite a few ranks deeper.

I don’t know if a real siege would be interesting to watch, it’s really a fight between dysentery and starvation. Though a siege could be a good backdrop for something else happening with occasional glimpses of how it’s progressing

Is there any movie or any documentary or anything that will gimme some realism? Like how a castle siege takes place? Now almost everyone believes that this is how it really was.

An iron armour would be penetrated even by an arrow from a good bow.
The chainsaw would only slide a sword off the body if the angle wasn’t good enough to let the sword go through.
So, it is pretty accurate

Did you just use 2 LOTR screenshots for “medieval movies”?
When you actually start studying history, especially biblical history stuff gets SUPER interesting. Sieges were absolutely brutal affairs. There are two times when Jerusalem was besieged where people were so hungry they ate their dead children and you have passages talking about once beautiful people looking like they are made out of wood because they dehydrated and died in the streets and essentially flash mummified in the dry heat.

Main characters never wore helmets.
When engaging in combat formations would dissolve and arrange individual duels instead of using formation tactics.
The scrawniest men and women would become archers, as that requires no strength.
Swords must be swung like 20kg sledgehammers.
Shields are to be held statically between you and the enemy or used as a counterweight.
Can’t hit your enemy? Try reverse grip and telegraphing your attacks even more.
When swords are crossed the only 2 allowed moves are pushing and talking
Legwork? This is a fight, not a dance.
At night you’re only allowed to use flame arrows.
All incoming attacks must be blocked, even if they were clearly too short to hit. Letting your armour catch a blow (that’s kinda what it is there for) or making a step back is prohibited

It is funny that old Hollywood medieval movies were full of colour.
